Deliberation in Schools: The Economy and Healthcare

In September 2020, the Bank of America Charitable Foundation and the Close Up Foundation conducted a two-day, online deliberative experiment of more than 300 high school students across the nation. Over the course of two days, the Young Democracy at Home event gave students the opportunity to deliberate current economic and healthcare policies on the Stanford Online Deliberation Platform, a web-based platform that facilitates constructive discussion through the use of an automated moderator. During the deliberations, the students held productive and polite conversations, offering a wide range of perspectives.
